Located on the border of Poland and Germany, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the Muskau Park is an excellent proposition for those who like spending time actively, outdoors, in the bosom of nature.
I spent a wonderful day there with my family. The park occupies 728 hectares on both sides of the Nysa Łużycka River, which is the Polish-German border. It is the largest English-style park in Poland. The founder of the park was Prince Hermann Ludwig Heinrich von Pückler-Muskau, who after numerous journeys, including to England, was delighted with landscape parks. In 1811, he inherited his father's estate in Muskau and began the partial realization of his plan, i.e. the creation of a park. Over time, the property passed from hand to hand. World War II and its political consequences left a strong mark on the fate of the park. Destroyed architectural objects and bridges, park meadows marked with bomb craters were the result of stopping the front on Nysa Łużycka for many weeks. After long turmoil at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, a breakthrough occurred which enabled the start of bilateral conservation cooperation, unprecedented on a European scale, for the protection and restitution of the Muskau Park as a compositional whole.
My thoughts….. I didn't know that just 100 km from my home there is such a wonderful place that gave me the opportunity to make my day full of joy, relaxation and smile. I could clear my mind there. The Muskau Park made my day! There was ice cream, coffee, cake, a walk, buying souvenirs and watching nature. Visit the Muskau Park with me.
