Winter in Poland

Generally, winter lasts from December to February (sometimes even to March). Climat changes have changed also climate in Poland. We used to have beautiful, snowy winters. Nowadays, we don't always see so much snow. Fortunately, we have mountains, in our borders. There are many wonderful villages and small towns, where snow lovers can have pleasure and enjoy amazing time. It is enough to mention here: Zakopane (it is located close to the highest mountains in Poland which are called Tatry), Bukowina Tatrzańska, Karpacz, Zieleniec, Białka Tatrzańska. There are just a few examples. We have much more beautiful places. My favourite one is Jakuszyce. This place is a paradise for cross-country skiers, views are like a fairy tale, there. If you like cross-country skiing, come to Poland. To convince you, that I'm telling the truth, see the photos below.

At the end of the page I posted a map with running paths. Enjoy!

Winter in my small town Chojnów can be like this…….

Frosty winter in Olsztyn. Olsztyn is situated almost 600 km from Chojnów, but there also can be frosty and snowy winter

And finally Jakuszyce. Here is an amazing winter. Who loves this season of the year, must come here necessarily

You can spend a fantastic time with your children there or……..

or…… feel like a child :)

You can also take a train to the Czech Republic. This special train runs on the route from Jelenia Góra - Szklarska Poręba (which is very close to Jakuszyce about 8 km) to Korenov. It is unique trail running among mountain cliffs and meanders and it's very popular too. In winter, you can admire the beauty of snowy landscapes and mountain peaks surrounding Szklarska Poręba from the windows of the train. This unusual train is called Kolej Izerska

Short break and my happy children :)

Me and Piotrek on a trail. The trails are well prepared by special vehicles. In polish we called them RATRAKI. You can see their work (lines) in the snow, on the photo below.

Weather can be really unpredictable

But the weather is not terrible for us :)

Besides, the weather is very changeable in the mountains

We are heading to Orle shelter. Photo by A. Rybczyńska

We reached shelter called Orle. It's a touristic point, you can eat, rest, use the toilet there. It's open all year round but there isn't any luxury (usually there isn't even electricity, so you spend your time by candles). I have never been there, but I have heard that atmosphere is amazing there. I think that this place is for people who like though, harsh conditions.

I know that you see my joy and happiness. It's not hard to feel like this in a place like this

I really love this place. I'm still enchanted by it. Photo by A. Rybczyński

And finally, I want to add that you don't have to be a cross-country skier. In Jakuszyce, you can also play like this too :)
