Autumn in Poland

I like autumn in Poland and each part of this season has its own unique charm. It can be gloomy and foggy like in Hitchcock movies.

It can be also beautiful and warm like in summer. The leaves cover themselves with many colors: yellow, orange, dark green, red, brown even gold. Cobwebs spread among the grass. In Poland, we call it “babie lato” - it means “Indian summer”. At the end of summer and beginning of autumn, Poland changes into a fruit paradise. We produce and export especially delicious apples (our country is at the forefront of apple production, in UE we have the 1 place) but also plums, pears, cherries, gooseberries, strawberries and raspberries.

Before the leaves fall from the trees and nature goes to its winter sleep, we often have a beautiful, golden, polish autumn. I like watching when leaves change their colors - it looks really amazing.

I love forest, this profound silence and peace, which is there. I love its inhabitants and the gifts it gives us, especially mushrooms. We pick the mushrooms with the whole family.

One day my Italian firend told me that you need to have a special permission to go and pick the mushrooms in Italy. Fortunatelly we can go to the forest in Poland whenever we want, for free :) So if you are a mushroom love, definietly you should come to us in Autumn! Mushrooms are delicious. We dry them, add to a chicken pate or other dishes. I cook also forest-scented mushroom soup. Forests cover almost 1/3 of Poland's territory.

And these are my parents' mushroom harvests from the Olsztyn forests

The average temperature in Sempember 2021 was 14 degrees. But, for example, on the first of September 2021, the temperature record was broken - in Tarnów was then 36,8 degrees! In October 2022, the average temperature was 11,2 degrees (date from all regions of the country) but in Kórnik was 24,9 degrees on October 17 and in November (which is mostly foggy, gloomy and cold) the average temperature was 4,3 degrees.

I invite you to see my autumn in my photos :)

We spend a lot of time walking around our town. We really like it. We can be closer to nature :)

And we can see such a beautiful and friendly animal

We like observing birds, animals, flowers, trees. There's always something going on outside. Once, when we were in the nearby forest, we saw herd of deer with a huge big male deer. The animals were almost at your fingertips. We were delighted but we slowly backed away quietly. We experienced such a situation only once but it was worth seeing.

It's up to us how we want to spend our time…….. sitting on the sofa or exploring the world. We have chosen the second option a long time ago.

Two years ago, my husband and I attended a conference in a nice place. There is a small museum next to the castle. This car was the autumn exhibit there.
