The Royal Łazienki (the Royal Baths) was one of those places in Warsaw that enchanted me completely! I am a total fan of greenery, and here in the very center of the city there is a huge, vast area drowning in greenery with charming paths, monuments, squirrels and walking peacocks. Contact with nature, peace, quiet, the opportunity to watch jumping squirrels, all surrounded by 18th century architecture. Everything was amazing there. I am 100% sure that I will come back to this place. Visit Warsaw with me.

More information about The Royal Łazienki you can find on Wikipedia

You can also read my other threads about Warsaw: The Royal Castle,  Warsaw in a few words and monuments and the Wilanów Palace. If you have some spare time, I recommend you to go to Palmiry.

What to see in The Royal Łazienki?

Certainly the most important monument is the Palace on the Water called also Palace on the Island. It was the summer residence of Stanisław August Poniatowski - the last king of Poland. The famous "Thursday dinners" were held in the palace, based on the Parisian literary salons, to which the ruler invited, for example, painters, sculptors, poets, musicians, writers. Now, there is a museum with the royal collection of paintings. In The Royal Łazienki you will also see an amphitheater, the Old Orangery, the Myślewicki Palace, the Museum of Hunting and Horsemanship and numerous sculptures free standing in the park.

What to do in The Royal Łazienki?

First of all, in the summer, Chopin concerts are held there. What is the most important concerts are for free. You can enjoy classical music and listen to Polish and foreign pianists. Concerts at the Chopin monument have taken place since 1959. Concerts usually take place from mid-May to September, every Sunday at 12:00 and 16:00. Secondly when I was in the gardens, there were gondolas floating on the royal pond. Many tourists have used their services. I didn't have enough time because on that day we also wanted to visit Krakowskie Przedmieście.

The amphitheater was built in 1785. The theater consists of two parts, the auditorium and the stage, separated by a canal filled with water. It can accommodate 950 spectators. The amphitheater was based on the theater in Herculaneum. In the summer, there are concerts and theatrical performances.

The Myślewicki Palace was a witness of many important meetings. There were, for example, the Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi and the Vice President of the United States, later President, Richard Nixon. It has survived to this day in an almost unchanged state, with mostly original decor from the times of Stanisław August. Officer Cadets School, where the Great Annexe is located today has its own moment in history. On November 29, 1830, a group of conspirators left the building of the Officer Cadets School in Łazienki and conquerd the nearby Belvedere, where the commander of the Russian forces, Grand Duke Konstanty was. The soldiers were led by Lieutenant Piotr Wysocki. This is how the November Uprising began in the Royal Łazienki Park. Currently, there is a modern exhibition space there. There is also a museum shop with souvenirs and publications of the Royal Łazienki and a ticket office.

18th-century stone cartouche, topped with a royal crown. It frames the coat of arms of the Republic of Poland with the coat of arms of Stanisław August on the heart shield. The coat of arms of Stanisław August was the coat of arms of the Poniatowski family - Ciołek, i.e. a young bull. You can see a bull, exactly in the center of this monument.

In the 18th century, the water tower collected water from nearby springs and then supplied it to the Palace on the Isle and the fountain standing next to it. There were also rooms for servants.

The last photo shows the area near the Chopin monument. This is where summer concerts take place. People sit on benches, deckchairs, grass, on their blankets etc. and listen to the fantastic musical works of this famous composer.
